Apple Insiders Wanted...
Published on May 31, 2005 By SuiteLife In
After ATI and their "Coming Soon" for the ATI TV Wonder Pro USB Edition back in 2001, I never thought a company would try a "Coming Soon" for a product release without a promised date to say when soon was. ATI promised the drivers before XP launched in OCT 2001 and finally didn't deliver them until April/May 2002. And then they were released as an unsupport beta.

Apple I hope isn't playing ATI with the upcoming release of QuickTime 7 for Windows.

Anyone know when it is planned to be released? Any Apple insiders here?

I read somewhere that Apple was planning to release QT7 for the Windows platform in the month of September. It appears some new features are harder to transpose than expected. I know it sucks but it seems Apple folks are less productive when it comes to a different environment. I can't wait to try it, either. But unlike what many Mac users think the majority of Windows users hardly ever use QT Player, neither do they think much of it. Highly-criticized WMP is more universal and offers many more playing options. I only use QT for .mov/ .qt files so it sounds weird to me when Apple folks compare it to QT (which only plays a fairly limited number of file formats we usually come across on Windows, I don't know about the Mac version though). I can only hope QT7 will offer that extra playability in order to be more widely accepted!

I hate the QuickTime interface. If I want to play a QT file, I use Zoom Player (WMP will also play them). Only on the rare occasion that I find a QT file that won't play on a more universal and user-friendly media player do I load up that crappy interface.

I find Quicktime Alternative works well for me. It keeps Apple from annoying me with the QT interface.
